The Quartieri Antichi include the four 17th century buildings, the Millo building, the Bigo and the Piazza delle Feste (Square of Festivities).
The small buildings of San Desiderio, San Lorenzo, San Giobatta and Santa Maria, dating back to the 17th century, today house the offices of important international companies.
In the Millo there are important cultural activities, such as the National Museum of the Antarctic and the bookshop “Porto Antico Libri”.
The Millo also stands out for the presence of restaurants and bars situated both at ground level and on the panoramic terrace inside the megastore Eataly.
From the architectonic point of view the Quartieri Antichi are characterised by the flagpoles of Susumo Shingu and the Bigo, the panoramic lift that lets you embrace Genoa from above, and which makes up the supporting structure of the cover of Piazza delle Feste.
The latter houses the ice skating rink in the winter months, performances and exhibitions for the rest of the year.
