Porta Siberia, built between 1550 and 1553 and designed by Galeazzo Alessi, takes its name from a corruption of the original name "Porta Cibaria (brought bread)."
From here in the past the Mediterranean came to Genoa with a peaceful invasion of flavorings, spices, foods, but also of colors and rhythms that will fertilize throughout Europe.
Today, Porta Siberia, thanks to the company's Porto Antico and the restoration of Renzo Piano, is again at the crossroads between the Mediterranean and Europe through art by Emanuele Luzzati.
The interiors are home to mostly temporary exhibitions of the great designer of Genoa, as well as a multimedia area, a library and a bookshop.
