The Port of Genoa’s many faces.

The Genoa Port Center is the only place in Italy where you can learn about and understand the port of Genoa in an easy and fun way using simulators and interactive exhibits.

Created as part of the project to Enhance the natural and cultural resources of Liguria (Asse 4 del Por Fesr 2007-2013) from Città Metropolitana di Genova (former Province) and promoted by Port Authority, Italian Coast Guard, Porto Antico and University of Genoa with institutions, associations , categories, maritime and port world, Genoa Port Center was established to spread the culture of the port and stimulate a dialogue between the port and the city.

Visiting Genoa Port Center is like discover one of the most important ports in Europe, with its ships, containers, activities on the docks, services and all the different jobs involved in the port and for the port.

Genoa Port Center, which is now managed by Porto Antico di Genova S.p.A., can be arranged on request, guided tours and in the evening events.


Playing with the port.

Through interactive exhibits, workshops and side events, get in touch with all aspects of a complex reality, the heart of the city’s economy.

Among the fun activities you can simulate:

  • Operate the quay cranes to move containers;
  • Piloting the Coast Guard patrol boat and protect the marine environment;
  • Measure the force of the wind with an anemometer;
  • Drive the pilot boat to tow a ship from the open sea to the port.


Lots of activities for the workers of the future.

With so many themes available, the Genoa Port Center is an excellent opportunity to learn in a simple way and get to know what work in the port is like.

Tours, seminars and specific workshops can be arranged for schools.

Since opening in 2009, the Genoa Port Center has hosted numerous classes, expanding its didactic options each year and encouraging the active participation of all actors in the life of the port.


An international model.

Since October 2011, Genoa Port Center is the leader of an international project that aims to create a European network of learning centers about ports.

Thanks to the example of the Genoa Port Center, in recent years other museums have been established to promote in a simple and intuitive way the cooperation between European ports and to improve the dialogue between ports and citizens.


Tickets and timetable.

You can visit Genoa Port Center from Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 to 14:30 and on Saturdays and Sundays from 14.30 to 18.00.
